Mercedes Benz S600 - Twin-turbo V12 engine

The Mercedes S600 is powered by a 510 horsepower 5.5-liter, twin-turbo V12 engine. The sedan is capable of doing 0-60 in 5 seconds while marinating a decent fuel economy owing to revised intake and refinement of V12 engine in the 2008 model. The car offers some state of are features like Active Body Control, infrared Night View Assist, Pre Safe and Distronic Plus, which now includes short-range radar so you can use it in stop-and-go traffic. The sedan has standard dual zone front air conditioning with separate control for rear passengers and has a decent in-dash 6-disc mount.

The numbers only tell part of the story: 12 cylinders, 510 hp and 612 lb-ft of peak torque from 1,800-3,500 rpm. The rest you have to feel for yourself. Staggering acceleration and low-end torque stems from two advanced, compact turbochargers, which nearly eliminate "turbo lag." Two liquid-to-air intercoolers further intensify combustion for seemingly endless thrust at any rpm. And with high-strength components like a diecast block, it's both seamlessly smooth and stunningly strong.

Arguably the most advanced suspension in production, ABC is a fully active suspension that ideally balances comfort and response in virtually every situation. A network of advanced sensors and electronically controlled hydraulics is designed to counteract the effects of roll, vibration, pitch, dive and squat when cornering, braking and accelerating. A driver-selectable Sport mode provides virtually flat cornering capability far beyond ordinary suspensions. Automatic 4-wheel level control gradually lowers the ride height as speeds increase, to improve aerodynamics and stability.

The 4-wheel independent multilink suspension is key to the exceptional poise and control of the S600. The 5-arm rear multilink design, a Mercedes-Benz innovation, controls rear-wheel movement with outstanding precision. For more precise and predictable handling, the front suspension and steering gear are mounted to the body structure via a rigid subframe.

Standard torque vectoring brake technology provides additional control and precision in turns via targeted rear-wheel braking. If the vehicle´s Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) detects understeer while cornering, the system applies the brake to the inside rear wheel, temporarily shifting torque distribution in favor of the outside wheel. This causes the vehicle to gently pivot in compensation, putting it on a line of travel, or vector, better suited to the turn.

A moving vision of power and prestige, the 2012 S600 stands above the crowd with an authoritative grille featuring a double-slat motif, staggered-width 19-inch wheels, and an exclusive chrome-highlighted rear bumper integrating dual exhaust tips. Its timelessly modern profile is complemented by windswept side mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators, while chrome trim strips extending from bumper to bumper accentuate the long wheelbase. At the rear, wraparound LED taillamps highlight the broad S-Class stance and deliver a dazzling nighttime presence.
