The History of Ducati Desmodromic Valve



 Ducati and Desmodromic System 


In the event alias WSBK Ducati street bike is the king. Proven ducati win the most championships. victory was not separated from the application of Desmodromic valvez. In 1954, Ducati is a manufacturer of small motors which start to rise after Italy lost World War II. General Manager of Ducati that time, Giuseppe Montano believes that there is a correlation between motor race win with an increase in motorcycle sales. 



The GM then ordered that an engineer Fabio Taglioni Ducati young genius. Taglioni began doing experiments and he saw that to win the race, the motor must be lauched at high RPM. But the problem is the valves have a limited spring. If enforced, the piston will beat valves at high RPM because valves will experience a "floating" and finally broken. 





       Taglioni finally concluded that the valves are controlled by the cam will be able to overcome this. Therefore, the cam-driven valves are called "Desmodromic" aka "movement control". The result creates Ducati 125cc motorcycle first apply Desmodromic valves. This motor can be issued a power of 19HP at 12,500 RPM. This bike was still calm, if not lauched rebu to 15 RPM. In 1956 this bike won the race at the Swedish Grand Prix and world beat MV Agusta motorcycles had jerked Europe.   


Until now Desmodromic valves there was virtually no opponents except the "pneumatic valves" which is driven by wind pressure. Although for the street no one has to apply it.




How it works Desmodromic
"The specific purpose of the Desmodromic system is to force the valves to comply with the timing diagram as consistently as possible. In this way, any lost energy is negligible, the performance curves are more uniform and dependability is better"
The main advantage is the use of Desmodromic prevent valve float at high RPM which is common in traditional spring
. If a traditional, when RPM is very high, the valve can not keep pace with the piston movement. So when the valve has not closed the piston is at top position (Top Dead Center). And that happens a collision with a valve piston or valve may also occur has not been fully closed, and the pressure was out first, resulting in the performance plummeted.

Since this patent will have another motor can not use this technology instead if not a conventional pneumatic pake. a glimpse of hand and pneumatic power between Desmodromic fairly balanced.
