The 2010 Honda FCX Clarity is a hydrogen fuel cell automobile which the design based on the 2006 Honda FCX Concept. The FCX demonstrates electric car qualities such as zero emission, 5 minutes refueling times and long range in a full function large sedan. Since the vehicle’s unveiling in November 2007, there were almost 80,000 people around the world shared anxious interest in owning this eco-friendly car. The FCX Clarity is currently only available in U.S., Japan, and Europe. For the U.S., is only available to customers who live in Southern California where the hydrogen stations are available.
The power of 2010 FCX Clarity powered by a 100kW Honda Vertical Flow (V Flow) hydrogen fuel cell stack and is supplied on demand. The waste energy from braking and deceleration is captured by the Motor/Generator and stored in a 288V lithium ion battery. The FCX passed the tests required by NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and U.S. Federal Safety Standards. There are six airbags, Vehicle Stability AssistTM, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), and Collision Mitigation Braking SystemTM (CMBSTM).
The FCX not only have the sophisticated eco-friendly engine, but also the interior materials are contemporary with a futuristic twist. The seats are made from bio-fabric with 30% less toxic when it’s produced and both seats are heated and cooled. There’s a fold-down center armrest in the rear that acts as a cup holder. Although the 2010 FCX Clarity is built for two, apparently there is enough room for three people in the back.
The display is very modern. There is a 3D display with a glowing circle that changes color as your driving changes. Cool colors represent eco-friendly driving and the bright colors indicate the aggressive acceleration. Audio system compatible with AM/FM/CD/MP3/XM with 6 speakers.
The styling of the car is fairly restrained, optimised for aerodynamic efficiency
